In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate

Our Lord bless and greet ever with peace

Your Beloved the best of all beings created

I

Is it the memory of tents near Dhi Salam that

draws tears wed to blood from your eyes -

the squall from Kazima,

lightning out of Idam’s umber?

And eyes, you say, enough yet they water?

Heart, you say, sense yet it soars?

The lover thinks love is hid?

What, by tears and smoking heart?

If not for longing would you cry in ruins?

Fret mere jaw from high and mighty cypress?

How deny love laid bare

by tears and blood, each a just witness?

Love plowed twin furrows in dry flesh,

yellowed your cheeks, bloodied your face.

Comes nightly, yes. Love, pins lid to brow,

and makes a trial out of joy.

You who fault my passion, pardon.

Were you fair you’d tear a strip off none.

My state you see. My secret’s with

the gossip and the crush only tightens.

You warned. I did not heed.

The lover’s deaf to reason.

Wary of counsel,

though the wise be above suspicion.

Qasida al-burda

January 17, 2006

1. Is it because of your remembrance of the neighbours of Dhi-salam.
2. That tears mixed with blood are flowing (from your eyes).
3. Or is it because of the breeze blowing from Kaazimah.
4. Or it is the lightning struck in the darkness of the night Idam
5. What has happened to your eyes, (the more) you tell them to stop, the more they continue flowing.
6. What is the matter with your heart, (the more) you tell it to come to its senses, (the more it is distracted).
7. Does the lover think that his love can be concealed.
8. While his eyes are shedding tears and his heart is glowing.
9. Had it not been for the love, you would not have shed tears at the ruins (of your beloved).
10. Nor would you become restless at the remembrance of the cypress (tree) the high mountain.                                                                                                                         11. How do you deny love after the testimony.
12. Borne against you by (such) reliable witnesses as your yours and your illness.
13. Love has ingrained two lines of fear, and withered your face.
14. On your cheeks like yellow rose and the reddish tree.
15. Yes! Thoughts of the beloved came to me at night and kept me awake.
16. And love transforms pleasure into pain.
17. O you who reproach me, regarding my love, excuse me.
18. From me to you if you do justice, you would not reproach me.
19. My state (of love) has been expressed to you, (now) my secret is no longer concealed.
20. From those who malign (me), nor is there (something to) check my agony.
21. You have sincerely advised me , I did not heed it.
22.For verily a lover is deaf to those who advise him.
23. I regarded with suspicion the advice of the elders in reproaching me.
24. (Wisdom) in the advice of the elders is above suspicion.

Glædelig jumu’a

Oh Allah! Bestow Blessings and Peace on Sayyidina Muhammad,
The Beloved of the Beneficent,
And the most precious in all creation
Who is present with whoever sends blessings on Him in every age and place,
And on His family and Companions and good followers.

Oh Allah! Bestow Blessings and peace on Sayyidina Muhammad,
The leader of both the worlds,
The light of Jinn and people,
The Grandfather of Imam Hassan & Imam Hussain,
And with this blessing on Him make Him the delight of my eyes,
And Bestow blessings and peace as well
On His family and companions.

Oh Allah! Bestow Blessings and total peace on Sayyidina Muhammad,
The Prophet not taught by any human (but by You, Oh Allah!)
And on His Family,
And I beg forgiveness of Allah, The incomparably Great,
And turn to Him repentant.

Oh Allah! Oh The light of the Heavens and the Earth,
Bestow blessings and peace on the one You created from Your light,
And forgive my sins, and fill my heart with
The light of Your knowledge and the knowledge that is with You,
And (bestow blessings and peace as well)
On His family and companions.

Oh Allah! Bestow blessings and peace on Sayyidina Muhammad,
The one who has the highest position,
The one with special nobility of closeness (to Allah);
Were it not for Him, we wouldn’t exist;
Immerse us in His breath, in reality and in its true meaning,
and (bestow blessings and peace as well)
On His family and companions.

Oh Allah! Bestow blessings and peace on Sayyidina Muhammad
The mention of whose name before anyone who is sick, cures him,
And anyone who is ill and in pain is given good health,
And (bestow blessings and peace as well)
on His family and companions.

Oh Allah! Bestow blessings and peace,
On the bright moon,
The bringer of glad tidings, the warner,
The soul of existence,
And the merciful for all that exists,
And on His Family and Companions and Followers
Till the Promised Day.

Qasîda by Imam Ahmad Mashur Al-Haddad

En virkelig god dokumentar om den fantastiske Qasidat al-Burda af Imam al-Busiri.

Qasida Hassan ibn Thabit

December 7, 2005

When I saw his light shining forth,

In fear I covered my eyes with my palms,

Afraid for my sight because of the beauty of his form.

So I was scarcely able to look at him at all.

The lights from his light are drowned in his light

and his faces shines out like the sun and moon in one.

A spirit of light lodged in a body like the moon,

a mantle made up of brilliant shining stars.

I bore it until I could bear it no longer.

I found the taste of patience to be like bitter aloes.

I could find no remedy to bring me relief

other than delighting in the sight of the one I love.

Even if he had not brought any clear signs with him,

the sight of him would dispense with the need for them.

Muhammad is a human being but not like other human beings.

Rather he is a flawless diamond and the rest of mankind is just stones.

Blessings be on him so that perhaps Allah may have mercy on us

on that burning Day when the Fire is roaring forth its sparks.
